BDAY party it is!

May always comes so fast every year and every year I say the same thing: This time I won't organize anything for my birthday. I like throwing parties but it's so stressful and I don't really like celebrating my own birthday, I prefere to do for someone else. But somehow I also change my mind every time. First I tell myself that okay, just a little get together with my closest friends. But then finally I always invite everyone I know. And surprise, I always have heaps of fun. Especially this time, my party was a little late but worth the waiting, I spent a perfect night with my friends and I think that everyone else enjoyed as well. But next year I'm not organizing anything.....

For my party, I privatized a cosy bar at Hotel de Ville. It was a nice place and the owner was really friendly. We got to bring our own music and decorations and small things to eat so it was almost like having a party at my place but we had more room for dancing. And the best thing, when it's not a your place, you don't really have to prepare anything. During the day, I did absolutely nothing. I stayed in bed reading Fifty Shades Darker, went for a little walk and did a foot care. So around 6 o'clock when I went to the bar to get everything ready I felt relaxed and I was already in a perfect party mood.

Thousand thanks for everyone for coming! Some of you I see more often than others but this was a perfect occasion to catch up with everyone. Special thanks to:
- J and T for the help
- S for the cakes
- A for the after party

Too bad everyone is not on the photos but don't worry, I won't forget that you were there. Thanks S for the professional photos and J for the iphone photos, at least the ambiance is captured in each of them.

ready pour la fête!

Best girls, thanks for the help!

I'm looking around like woooh a bar full of people just for me. :D ps. note my balloon decorations!

Team Assas, I've spent the best year with you.

+ my beautiful S from team Assas as well

At least one group photo, although this was maybe 1/3 of all the guests

Super cute C got attacked by A and M...

And B is trying to catch two girls at once or what?

ma sosie! <3

My new Michael Kors bag, love it. I also got some jewellery and cosmetics. Perfect, thank you everyone!

And I got this beautiful card, I put it in my bathroom so that I see it everyday. Those who participated in the MK bag also gave me individual cards with funny photos of everyone. I can't stop smiling when I read them.
J <3 Twice very year we try to get a good photo of us two, I think this time we are doing okay. :)

And T <3

Our after party at A's place went on for hours and when I walked home with C, it was 7am, the sun was shining and people were jogging. I don't even remember the last time I came home this late (or early), it must have been in 2010 or something. But I didn't even feel that tired, just happy. Maybe I could party like this more often....

Anyway, I'm glad I threw a party after all and that so many came. And that I have such great friends, here in Paris and everywhere else as well. Love you all,

Perfect days with N

Hiya my friends! Hope you have not forgotten about my blog. ;) I've been busy and tired but here I am again. :) I'm starting to be more and more sure about one thing: this summer is anything but relaxing, some days I literally feel like I can't get up. Working full time and studying for my exams plus all the coffee and stressing and not sleeping was not a good combination and I would have needed some holidays after all that. But no way, not this summer, holidays is something I can only dream about.

But after a couple of nervous breakdowns I'm actually feeling quite bright and shining again. I really like my job and it seems that everyone there likes me and values my help. I've learnt a lot, I've been given more and more responsibilities and I feel like I'm really part of the team. I already fear the end of my internship because I'm really getting attached to everyone and to everything I do there. So I'm not complaining, for the first time a have a real job and days just fly by. I just wish that had more time and energy to enjoy the summer as well and actually do something.

In the beginning of May, before all this craziness started, my Finnish-Swiss friend N was visiting for a weekend. It's amazing how some friendships just last, like me and N. We met in 2006 when I started high school and N came to Finland to do an exchange. She was one of the sweetest girls I had ever met and we soon became good friends. We spent lots of time together in school and outside school and it was always so much fun. Then N left back for Switzerland which was sad but our friendship didn't end. We see each other every now and then when we're in Finland at the same time (apparently it's impossible for me to get myself to Switzerland...) and it always feels like it was yesterday we were together in high school. N still is one of the sweetest girls I know, she is so positive and always smiling. I spent wonderful three days with her in Paris. For once, the sun was shining and we enjoyed every moment. Now I just think back to those relax happy days. Hope to see you soon again!

At Institut du Monde Arabe...

... sunbathing of course!

Palm trees at Parc de Luxembourg

G and L organized a lovely piquenique so we spent some time there

And then N took art photos at Place de Trocadéro

Sunday sun at Parc de Buttes Chaumont

Simply a great weekend with you!

After N had left I started serious studying and working. But I've spent some nice moments as well every know and then, for example:

A threw a dinner party for old S&J girls and new S&J girls

And R made a cake for A and I who are soon getting married

Me and my best friend from school, C, had cocktails for the end of exams

Then there has been several birthday parties. S and E chose a theme Fiesta Mexicana for their birthdays.

Me and my dear friend T... I don't remember anymore what this mask had to do with Mexico. :D

Flower girls and one sombrero

I also had a little party this weekend for my birthday (a little late, I know), more about that coming soon....

Happy Birthday to me!

22 was a absolutely great age, I hope I will live another wonderful year being 23. Here's a list of 23 things I learned (again) during this past year. :)

1. When a cute stranger leaves you his number on a piece of paper, always contact him.
2. Living in le Marais is just so much better than living in Montmartre.
3. I can wear red pants without looking too fat.
4. A part of my heart will always belong to St.Raphael, more specifically to Fréjus Plage.
5. When you are cooking, there is no point trying to boil water/blow dry your hair/have your heating on at the same time because the electricity is not enough.
6. You get good grades easier when you actually go to school. And it is possible to make friends in a French University and finally feel like you're fitting in.
7. If you know someone who does something better than you, always ask for help rather than struggle with it alone.
8. I couldn't live without my Club Med Gym - membership. Or without my Chanel jacket. Or without a smoothie every morning.
9. Shopping and spending money always makes you feel better.
10. The only shop to buy clothes from is Zara, don't waste your time going anywhere else.
11. Partying with drunk teenagers is surprisingly fun.
12. Even if you quit your job, stay in touch with your colleagues. They can become great friends.
13. You should always have a boyfriend on Valentine's Day.
14. Mixing French and Finnish or trying to directly change French words into Finnish ones makes a totally understandable language.
15. It is okay for a girl to ask a guy out.
16. It is also okay to eat sushi every week.
17. When it finally stops raining, don't throw your umbrella in the first trash bin you see. Or if you do, buy a new one. Because next time it's raining you will get wet.
18. As my friend E says: Edison tried thousands of times before inventing the light bulb - meaning try again and don't give up, in the end you will get what you want.
19. True friends are more important that anything else. And it's not easy when they are far away. But the distance is not an obstacle to friendship.
20. If you're heartbroken because of one guy, the best way to get over it is by breaking your heart because of another guy.
21. Paris is a small city.
22. School is not the most important thing in your life so dont' stress like a crazy. (slowly but surely, I think I'm finally getting there!)
23. You can drop your iPhone as often as you like or even throw it around but don't let it fall from too low, it breaks.

And things I never learn:
1. The one and only mascara to use is Max Factor Masterpiece Max - so when you are somewhere they sell them, always buy 5.
2. Think before you drink - and never drink Tequila.
3. The French administration is never going to change so just get used to it.
4. The guys are all the same.

Yesterday I had drinks with my best girlfriends and now I'm going to spend some more time with one of them. Because what would a birthday be without J and Starbucks! Later I unfortunately have to study but it's okay. I will be done with school in less than two weeks and then I'm going to throw a big birthday party! :)

Love you all,
xoxo: Emi

Photoshooting by the Seine and Finnish 1st May celebration

Hey! I've started my new job now and it seem's really nice. But concentrating and learning takes too much energy so I'm exhausted. And I've been quite busy lately so hard to keep up with my blog. And I should study as well but....

Well anyway, I just wanted to post some beautiful photos we took with my friend T when we went for a walk along the river, near Pont Alexandre. The summer is late this year but finally it's green and blooming everywhere. And sunsets by the Seine are always so beautiful. And walking and talking with T is something I just love, we should do it more often. Ps. We miss you A and M!

Last Wednesday was the 1st of May and we celebrated it with my Finnish friends (and one Scottish girl) in a Finnish way. We had a nice picnic at Buttes de Chaumont but in the end the weather took a turn to pouring rain so we had to run and continue our picnic inside. But that often happens in Finland as well so I guess our 1st May picnic was a success anyway. And oh my god I've never been that drunk in the middle of the day! :)

Let's get it started. Hauskaa vappua!

Me and J wearing our student caps like they do in Finland on the 1st of May.

J made Finnish doughnuts called "munkki" and I tried to make a salty pancake roll that my mun used to make for 1st of May brunches when I was little.

And I found Finnish candies, salted liquorice, from a Swedish candy shop.
